Customer Service Representative (full-time)

McKinleyville Community Services District (MCSD) is currently recruiting an individual who is interested in joining our dynamic team. MCSD is a special district that is based on serving the community and ensuring safe distribution of drinking water, collection and treatment of wastewater, street light maintenance, and parks and open space facilities. MCSD prides itself in a positive and safe work environment, where employees are cross trained in a variety of skills to ensure that tasks are completed in an efficient manner.

Description of Role: Typical duties include but are not limited to: answering phones, assisting customers with payments, billing, and service issues, processing customer payments and preparing deposits, scheduling required customer-related activity for field personnel, maintaining customer information online and on in-house computer systems, assisting in the utility billing process and collections, general filing, copying, scanning, and other office work, providing bookkeeping and accounting support for accounts payable, and other related duties as assigned.

Hours:  This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week. Schedule may include some overtime.

Salary:  $18.76 - $23.95 per hour plus an excellent benefit package including employer paid health and dental insurance for the employee and dependents, CalPERS retirement, sick, vacation and holiday pay, 457 employer match, employee assistance program and potential for growth and advancement within the Finance & Administration Department.

Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge, training, and/or experience in recordkeeping practices and procedures.
  • General knowledge and skills in modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment including the Microsoft Office Suite, principally Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge and experience in customer assistance and customer service.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Knowledge of accounting/ bookkeeping principles and practices,10-key experience required.
  • Ability to obtain first aid/CPR certification within six months of employment.
  • Ability to obtain current fingerprint identification and negative criminal history results from the Department of Justice upon employment.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Driving record which meets MCSD insurance requirements.
